Here we are again.... blimey where did the week go??? Grin. signlet is now 5yrs old. Had a lovely birthday on Tues, (got a new (to him) red DS). He was literally dancing with joy, Grin Grin. Took him to grandma's for birthday tea (where we all had to do the okey cokey) I have good photos.....

Tomorrow we have a family and friends swim (have hired the local hydrotherapy pool) I feel like I haven't stopped this week, but the to do list is a tiny weeny bit shorter, so feels like I have accomplished something Hmm.

How were all your weeks? I feel I ought to 'fess up' now that I am likely to drop out early this eve (as per usual) Wink but I do always catch up on the early shift saturday morning. Grin

Don't know Ninja, not really a huge diamond fan unless it's with other stones. I hope not though as that sounds expensive and I've got about a £20 budget this year with being at uni :( We've decided we're going to get our Christmas presents at Manchester Christmas market though so maybe I'll find something amazing :) If not, I've seen some nice watches in my budget :)

LollipopViolet · 18/11/2011 21:03

Aha, not quite so worried now. He's just sent me a link asking if I like the style of this ring here

I do really like that, he says he's found something similar but different colours :)

To bring this somewhat back on topic, we've both got sight problems so I think it's fab we've found each other :)

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 18/11/2011 21:03

Lollipop, persuade him that costume jewellery is the in thing, and that's true, really. Grin

lisad123 · 18/11/2011 21:07

having a depressing week but watching children in need to remind me it could be worse :)

slowburner · 18/11/2011 21:17

Some of my most favourite jewellery is the pieces that really didn't cost that much at all :)

We have just had a week with no TV, it was bliss, mummy and DD played lots with iPad :) although if I hear Peekaboo Barn one. more. time........

TOTU · 18/11/2011 21:26

New to this Friday Night thread so I hope I'm posting correctly.

Happy belated b/day to Mini Signs. Sorry to hear some others are feeling down.

Had a busy week with parent's evenings. My (NT) daughter has made leaps and bounds in becoming less emotional at school and her school work is great.

Reviewed my sons' IEPs at their SS. Slight progress has been made. One better than the other.

Hospital results were stable.

Weekend means we are off to the town centre. Hoping for no meltdowns and then I'm gonna palm the kids off to my mums house as usual on Sunday morning as I need to enjoy the guilty pleasure of reading the Liz Jones page in the Sunday Mail get on with some jobs Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 18/11/2011 21:53

hi totu, sounds like a good week Smile

auntevil · 18/11/2011 22:37

Evening all.
Happy birthday to signlet - and happy eating/drinking to those of you lucky enough to be getting a free pass Envy Wink
Having a rough week here - and just found out today that DS2 needs to be GFCF as well as DS3 (found out just about 2 weeks ago). DS1 has 6 months of a full on IBS diet - plus medication. No tomato ketchup for him - and he's devastated. Although not as much as Heinz - who will have to reduce their predicted profit margins for the next 6 months Grin
Will be PM ing you Ninja - as you know I need the low down on your DS1s school - as my DS1 might be headed that way too.
Oh, and DH has vamoosed to freezing cold countries to work for 3 weeks - leaving me with no childcare for college, parent evenings etc etc. With no family nearby, i am in a logistical nightmare.
The joys Hmm - remind me again, what are they?

moosemama · 18/11/2011 23:03

Well I am back and stuffed to the gills. Grin

Would you believe it, a load of teachers from the boys' school were having a staff do in the same pub! Shock I thought it was odd when I saw two teachers in a row come up to the bar. Then I saw two more walk past our window and finally twigged they were all sitting at the other end of the pub. Honestly, there's no escape!

Still, had a nice meal and good natter - even managed a rl gin and tonic. Grin

Dh has been sitting at home studiously clipping quotes and references from the SENCOP and reams of other things I printed off this afternoon for him to read. He's using Evernote to create a huge library of SEN related stuff that we can both access. Clever stuff this technology innit? Dreading a whole day poring over the SA request tomorrow, but glad there's finally an end in sight - at least to this small part of the process. I guess it will be the week after they go back in January before we hear whether or not they're going to assess, as that will be 6 weeks, taking into account the Christmas break.

Rebel, I am so sorry you are having such an awful time of it - I have been over to OTBT, but have no personal experience, so nothing useful to add. All I have to offer is genuine sympathy for what you are going throughand some virtual ((hugs))

Lollipop, glad things are still going well for you and your boyfriend. Jewellery presents sound very encouraging. Grin

Apologies to those I've missed. I am struggling to concentrate what with dh relieving his mispent yoof by watching a Nirvana concert with the sound up really loud while he's working. How do they do that - concentrate and listen to loud music at the same time. Confused I likes to make the most of the peace and quiet when the dcs aren't around myself.

coff33pot · 18/11/2011 23:43

Glad you had a good time moosemama and that you worked out it was a staff doo in the pub. If it was me I would be having captain hooks nervous twitch when Tick Tock the Crock creeps up Grin

I got small ear phones this week and shoved them in my ears (I dont have any music) DH came up and said "oh you got mp3 too? what are you listenting too" ..........Told him the Sound of Silence Grin You think Nirvana was bad poor DS had to sit through and old Janet Jackson concert when DH was going through old vids to chuck Hmm

auntevil · 19/11/2011 00:02

Moosemama - Did you get any incriminating photos on your mobile to use when you need to take the school to task about anything? Grin

moosemama · 19/11/2011 00:36

Lol. Fortunately it seemed to only be the nice teachers, mostly ds2's rather than ds1's and they were sitting right down the other end of the pub around a corner where we couldn't see each other.

Two of them walked straight past without recognising me. Mind you, I was three stone heavier last time I saw them to speak to and I had some slap on and my hair down.

Coff33 - Janet Jackson! Shock My lot are regularly subjected to Kerrang radio by dh. Ds2 and dd love it and do some rather spectacular dance moves between them, but ds1 is a bit anti-music in general really.

signandsmile · 19/11/2011 07:09

Morning all!promised I'd be back, Grin, was disciplined enough to get an early night and not fall asleep dribbling on the sofa, Blush so am (resonably) bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Glad eve out was fabby. moose.

Have been filling a table full of cardboard lunch boxes with grub for later. DS is having a singing morning, the current song goes, " snort snort, oba da dada, ah ah ah oba da, di da, ugga do dod oooo u da da snort grunt, ah ah aha a na na hubba da de daa bug bug ooooo ha....ad infinitum..." Hmm. and it's loud! usually we get a snatch of nursery rhyme, or something recognisable, but today totally 'free stylee' Grin

One nice thing is that me and a friend have found/created a really nice group of mummies at the school that meet for coffee on a Thurs, (we use my friends big house and I make cakes) It's really open, anyone is welcome and we keep an eye out for anyone who looks a bit isolated in the playground and make sure they get an invite. I am thinking of doing a mummies (and daddies) Christmas meal for the last week before school breaks up. You know, bring and share; bring your speciality dish......

I was really worried I would be isolated in the play ground at ds's school, but this has really paid off, Grin

What a day. DS2 having horrible abdominal pain and in the hospital all day. We took him to our local hospital and they arranged transport to a nearby one that had paed surgeon on duty (?), as they were concerned that it was his appendix. He's feeling better now, and we're home, but they told us to watch him over the weekend and if he gets worse again, we'll have to take him back in. Sad He's still not feeling great, but better than earlier today. DS3 running a temp and feeling miserable too, although different illness.

Not anticipating a lot of sleep tonight.

bochead · 19/11/2011 20:29

Tribunal approaching so not hearing a peep re issues at school. DS tells me though what's been happening though so I know he was in a fight Monday lunch time for example.

Autism outreach came round - lovely lady but suprised at how little help we've had up to now and that if I lose tribunal she won't see ds again (he bloody needs their input at school!)

Birthday this week, didn't do anything to celebrate as don't wanna disrupt routines in run up to tribunal (best birthday for me was no added stress lol!)

Started job hunting for Jan term as I can't afford as a lone parent to stay out of the workforce and keep my home much longer.

Researching e-learning guitar programmes - DS keen to learn ut not making much progress at school which is a shame. Started making Xmas decs and will gt out sewing machine next week. Ds needs "prepping" for the holiday season and a few craft sessions seem the best way I've found to get him ready for the inevitable disruption to routine at school the run up Xmas always brings.

Put off repainting bathroom for the umpteenth week in a row.

So sorry for all those that are feeling poorly, lets hope everyone recovers before Xmas.

coff33pot · 19/11/2011 23:08

Moose I would settle for kerrang any day compared to Janet Jackson Grin I was more of a fan of Scorpions, Meat Loaf, Status Quo and Motorhead myself so DH and I are very chalk and cheese on our music. He just doesnt understand its good housework music Grin

Triggles I hope your DC feel better tomorrow and it isnt DS2 apendix bless him x

Becs Happy Birthday for this week gone! Sorry the outreach had such negative news for you. Fingers crossed for tribunal and all goes well x

Well DD played her flute and raised £38 for children in need. I was so proud of her. To be honest I had a lump in my throat for every child that struck a note today they all looked so small. The music teacher called her up and told everyone she has only played 5 weeks and was determind to do this. The teacher played the piano to accompany her so she wasnt on her own. I clapped my hands raw and so did DS Grin

DS was armed with brand new block em out headphones and he only took them off for her. He was so well behaved i was proud of him too. At the end the vicar came up to us and asked DD and DS if they would like to see his special flute. He let them both hold it and try it. It was beautiful and part made in ivory. DS was thrilled and he got a note too! THEN told us it was 200 years old and worth £10,000 Shock I was worried but he didnt bat an eyelid! he was lovely and spent a lot of time talking about the church to DS so that made his day. We celebrated with MacDonalds ice cream and got them Rio to watch so it was a good day all round. :)

signandsmile · 20/11/2011 07:32

Triggles · 20/11/2011 11:05

DS2 seems to be better today. DS3 has a fever and is incredibly cranky. Ah well.
