coppertop · 02/01/2006 17:11

Arrggh! Can't get the link on the other thread to work! Have I still got time to phone? Can anyone with a child who gets DLA apply?

coppertop · 02/01/2006 17:12

I mean if the child gets DLA rather than the adult.

anniebear · 02/01/2006 17:13

We did and told them we get DLA for Ellie and I get C/A

You don't need the link just...............

Just seen this on another site I am on and thought it might help some people

If you are a British Gas customer and claim benifits including DLA or carers allowance ring 0845 602 2008 and press 1 for winter fuel benifet.Have your customer reference number handy.

DH also had to have a bank statement

anniebear · 02/01/2006 17:14

DH did it 15 mins ago so you should be ok to do it now

coppertop · 02/01/2006 17:16

I don't get C/A. I suppose that counts us out.

anniebear · 02/01/2006 17:17

I don't know..... Give it a try, can only ask

anniebear · 02/01/2006 17:21

she just asked what benefits we got, might be able to get it with just DLA

coppertop · 02/01/2006 17:24

Just tried the number and the answering-machine thingy said that all the offices are now closed. I'll try again tomorrow if the deadline hasn't run out again.

Thanks, Anniebear.

Copy and pasted the info for those who can not access the link on the other thread.
We cant clian because we have oil fired heating...no gas in our village at all

URGENT! If you receive means-tested benefits you can claim a 60 quid rebate from British (or Scottish) Gas, though you must claim before 31 DEC 2005.

They are giving out rebates of £60 on winter bills - it is paid in two installments in November and February. The rebate is worth £40 for gas customers, £20 for electricity, i.e. £60 for customers getting both.

Check to see if you?ve received a form with your gas bill or call 0845 602 2008 and press 1 for Winter Fuel Rebate. All you need is your account details and they?ll arrange it for you.

It's for British (or Scottish) Gas customers only and you have to be on one of the following benefits:

Vulnerable Customer - Eligible Benefits
? Disability living allowance
? Pension Credit
? Attendance allowance
? War disablement pension which includes either a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance
? Disablement pension which includes constant attendance allowance
? Child tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
? Working tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
? Council tax benefit
? Housing benefit
? Income-based job seekers allowance
? Income support
? Carers Allowance
? Severe Disability allowance

Call centre holiday opening hours:

Wed 28th Dec 8am-8pm
Thurs 29th Dec 8am-8pm

Thanks for this - just seen it!

Another gold star for Mumsnet in Dh's books!!

coppertop · 02/01/2006 21:16

Looking at JM's list it looks as though we might even qualify under the WTC rules. Hurray!

SoBlue · 02/01/2006 22:43

It applies to anyone on a benefit listed. A friend of mine has claimed today on housing benefit and qualified. With a meter they send a cheque.

Rang this morning and got it - so they obviously havent applied any deadlines yet. Thanks Jayzmummy, would be £60 worse off without your comprehensive posting.

heartinthecountry · 03/01/2006 11:24

Thanks also - just sorted ours.

anniebear · 03/01/2006 13:17

Coppertop ..........did you ring?

coppertop · 03/01/2006 13:27

Can't believe I almost forgot!

Thanks for the reminder. I've just phoned and the money should be going into our account some time within the next 3 months. We usually pay by direct debit so they already had the bank details.

MulledMerlot · 03/01/2006 16:44

Bump...Just to make sure, no-one else misses this one.

anniebear · 03/01/2006 16:54

Graet Coppertop!

DH said it will just come off our bill

I had a lovely evening last night thinking how I would spend £60!!!!!!!!!!!! well, took about 2 minutes!!
