Ridge on skull of 4 week old, something to worry about?

Last night whilst feeding DS2 I noticed a slight ridge on his skull, running from the front fontanelle to the back. Decided to google it, and now I've got really panicked that he has craniosynostosis. DH thinks I am over reacting, and that all babies have bumpy skulls. He thinks that as DS2 is feeding constantly and has his head resting on the side that this has caused it, but I can't shake the feeling that something is not right.

Anyone had experience of this? Am I panicking over nothing, or should I go and get him checked out?

I can vaguely remember a bumpy ridge on the skull, I think it is where they overlap a bit to mould themselves to the birth canal. Has your baby got a normal sized fontenalle? Was it a vaginal delivery. If yes, to these I really wouldnt worry as craniosynostosis is not common.

All the sites I saw implied that I should panic, then I told my mum about my concerns and she did much more successful googling that said it's normal till about 2 months

In my defence, DS is cluster feeding and I have a nasty cold, so I've had little else to do all day (and night) than stroke his head, google and panic about things. Will google more thoroughly before posting next time!

all 3 of mine had this, but ds2's was far more pronounced than either of this others, think it was just cos of how he came out and his head getting more squashed up.

as long as the fontanelle is def open I think that's ok.

but if you are worried then ask the health visitor!
