Saw psychiatrist today at CAMHS.

He said DS is definately on the Autistic Spectrum leaning towards Asperger Syndrome.

He wants to see DS on his own next week when he will tell us whether it is HF or AS.

Feel so relieved

We told him what DS school has been like and he frowned, then he said he is going to contact the school and go in for the day in January to observe DS in class and in the playground and HE will then tell school what help DS needs.

He said DS IQ is very superior and he obviously has difficulties communicating and socialising and doesnt understand why school particularly the SENCO has not picked this up.

He was surprised when i told him i was AS and asked me all sorts of questions-he said that i cope with it very well and i told him that i was worse as a child/teenager but that i have learned to cope the hard way.

So myself and DH feel relieved and vindicated at last, thats one in the face for the SENCO!!

I'm pleased for you jenk, you've put a lot of effort in to get this diagnosis, I hope others will listen to you now.

Good News after the battle you have had, hopefully school will have to sit up and take things seriously and be forced to put some good strategies in place.

DS psychologist has just phoned me to see the outcome of yesterday.

She said she was pleased that we have a confirmed diagnosis and that DS should get the help he needs now.

She also said that she watched the Magnificent 7 film and couldnt stop thinking about DS!!!

whoooooo hoooo! at long last!

sounds strange to be happy for you, but at least you can get things in place.

Thats wonderful news jenk,

I'm sooo glad that you finally have had positive feedback and confirmation of what you already suspected.
Lets hope that from here on you all as a family and ds especially get the help and support that is needed.
