Hi all, for those who don't know me my ds is nearly 5, with ASD and mild to mod LD. (in MS school with full time TA).

I am doing the onlineinset ASD course, (for useful info and to know what they school staff are being taught, ) and one of the bits talks about discussions around ASD versus ASC (disorder versus condition).

One of the other people at the session asked me what parents felt, I could only answer for me, but said I would ask all of you what you thought..

The course was talking about people finding 'disorder' prejudicial, I don't have strong feelings either way as I think the prejudice comes in at the point of A (when people hear Autism) rather than whether or not it is C or D (condition or disorder.)

What do you think ?

I prefer condition to disorder, - somehow condition just sounds worse.

I don't like either really.

I say ASD. I like ASD. I would prefer Autistic Spectrum Disability.

Sorry, meant I prefer disorder to condition but hate them both.

I prefer condition as it sounds softer to me as in a segment. ie a portion of my son has a small portion of an AS condition. Disorder sounds final.

Dont know if that makes sense lol
