I have a video of 3 recent Autism related programmes (all as shown and not edited) and am offering to copy this for anyone who needs it- as long as you send the tape and £1 to cover return postage!I know this is probably illegal....but i'm sure the authorities will appreciate the sentiment behind this!!!!

O.k....what i have taped so far is the 'My family and Autism' - starring the Jackson family- follwed by The Autism Puzzle (a bit negative- but i picked what was good and ignored the bad when i watched it!) and ofcourse this latest Aspergers Syndrome. It's easier for me to copy all of the programmes.

Now,I have decided that using the 'contact a member' method is not very reliable and takes too long- so here is my email address

[email protected]

I am not into bulk mailing to the people in my address book and promise not to mail you about anything else unless you say so-I respect people's privacy.

The only thing i better say is that if i get sooooo many replies....i might have to take a bit of time....but let's face that if it happens...i might only get 3 requests!!!!

Now a bit about the programme on BBC2 The other night...if you missed it!

Showed a bit about aspergers in the classroom- how the child is sensitive to noise etc- and then the teacher told the child to 'pull his socks up' when he appeared to be not paying attention- illustrating the 'literal' tendancies

Then focused on a 5 year old who was sat in his home telling the interviewer all about his dinosaur collection- then showed a good 5 minutes of him at school- he had a FT assistant and his own partitioned area which he was free to 'retreat' to when things got too much for him in the class- this bit was WONDERFUL TO WATCH- he was then accompanied into the playground where he had a 'routine' prob when he was not able to play where he usually did- showed him covering ears, flapping hands etc- I think this bit aws fantastic!

Next was a 9 year old being diagnosed- again showed some home and school footage- he also showed his collection of rocks to us and this particular one illustrated the 'intellectual vocabulary' that some aspergers children have- also showed his difficulties in the playground etc - he was 'managing' without special support in school- so i think this was great as most of us have not gone through statementing etc so many of our kids are not 1:1 supported

Then it went on to Luke Jackson- he was filmed and interviewed at home and school- and jaqui - it was great to see a secondary school - and it showed his difficulties with what he called small talk and eyecontact- and his love of computers-tehn a brilliant bit where jaqui described him having to 'break away from the computer long enough to eat with the family' then him sitting there like they were all from another planet!

They finished with twins who were in their twenties and made the point that these were the 'undiagnosed' ones who went through school seen as 'difficult to manage' etc- one of them loved juggling and showed a page of calulations to do with the technicalities of juggling! There was not alot on these two- but it was a very interesting interview

Sorry....it is an essay!!! Still those who've read my posts B4 will not be suprised!!

So email me and get this to you so you can see how much i missed ! (i had all 3 of my boys hovering around me when i was 'trying' to watch it!)
