Very good

I can't work out how to change from halloween name

Socci, yes I heard of them ages ago, they seem to pop up now and then. I haven't actually looked at the group, I think its best to ignore them. I was a bit alarmed that someone on ABA-UK said that Lovaas used aversives. He DID back in the 60s but dropped it ages ago, they neglected to mention that!

When I was at the NAS conference I was in a queue to go into a plenary by Prof Pat Howlin. In the queue a couple of other people got talking and one was saying she didn't like the sound of that ABA, its not respectful. So I laughed and said, "oh that's misinformation that gets perpetuated by people who don't know about it", in the nicest possible way of course! I also informed her that its the only method with proof of effectiveness. It was all quite pleasant. Pat Howlin proceeded to list and compare interventions, at the end of which the only one she said showed any effectiveness was....... ABA!!! That doesn't mean to say she's talking about a 40 hour a week home prog as we know it but about the method. I only went in to see what might be being said about ABA and other methods, hee hee. All the papers from the conference are available at the NAS website, I've been meaning to post a link on MN and will soon but you can go there and have a look.

Ended up hospitalised last xmas day (blood pressure was 240/120- ds1 was having a bad day!- I was 38 weeks pregnant- spent a peaceful few hours in hospital with a cup of tea and bp slowly dropped- got home at midnight to....ds1 screaming!)
