My ds finally smiled at me

This might sound a bit trivial but it's got to be a step in the right direction. For the first time in 5 years my ds actually smiled at me. He can smile when asked to, like if I'm taking a photo, or if he finds something particularly funny, but today he actually smiled at me with no encouragement. He just walked into the room, saw me, smiled and left. Strange thing is I've never even given it much thought until today.

Thanks everyone, My ds has high functioning autism, and smiles, greetings etc have never come naturally to him, I'm always prompting him to do so, but this came just out of the blue, it's great.
