sorry for posting yet again but just had a row with a so called mate of mine told her what im going through and was replied with your getting rid arnt you noooooooo im fu**g not soz for bad language as everyone is aware i dont know yet weather my baby has ds but ive got to grips with it and she was the first i told apart from close family told her ive been through hell n back still am cos i dont know anything for sure but why cant no bugger be happy for us oooooooooooooo is all i get its not perfect in every way get shut needless to say we aint on freindly terms and to make matters worse told her 10 month old baby is pug ugly and this one is gonna be ten times better bad choice of words i know but some people xx

I don't know your story, but clearly you know your baby, whether ds or not, is a gift and a joy, and that's wonderful
It might be best to steer clear of this friend for a while.

A friend from M&T had second child with DS. He is utterly beautiful. Hansdome, sweet, smiley - just like any other baby. He is 8m now. I know she will have difficult times ahead, but she adores him as much as her NT DD.

Give her a wide berth.

im not normally nasty but asking if im getting rid (abortion) the so called freind dosnt know me that well thats why and i dont ever do this but told her .her baby was an ugly sod no right to say that and yes im sorry i said it now but i love this babes nomatter wat

and I had the pleasure of meeting a baby with ds recently.
He is scrummy and gorgeous and delicious.

Donna, why is this person still a friend of yours? You don't need insensitive friens like this.

If I were you (and I hate that phrase) I would try and get in touch with a local Downs Syndrome parents group, try to get along and meet some other mums and dads and their lovely children, my son has two friends with downs and they are lovely.

Donna - I had something similar in that everyone is surprised that we knew dd1 probably had ds before she was born and yet we decided to have her. When I discussed having more children with a friend of mine she thought we were mad in case something would go 'wrong' with future children.

I would ignore people like that and feel sorry for them in their ignorance.

As someone else said - contact the local DSA and meet people who can be positive and supportive during this time.

i know a little boy who has downs and he is fabulous and the biggest source of joy ever for his mum and dad.

donna - Ill be happy for you too. agree, I hate the "its got to be perfect or it goes back to the shop" attitude. (Sorry, but I am laughing as well at the image of a pug ugly 10 month old)

When I did the search for a post about the Lottie pic situation I saw this and had to respond.

Makes me laugh really. Children with Down's syndrome, are perfect, they aren't less of a person becasue they have DS, they aren't to be pitied. They have one extra chromosome, not something missing! What makes anyone think that people with Down's syndrome isn't how it's supposed to be, and it's all of us with one less chromosome that are wrong?!!!

When I hear of a person who has a child with DS, being in the no as it were, I can saftley say my reaction is 'ohhh how lovley, you lucky thing, congratulations', because I know how wonderful having a child that is a bit different is, and how rewarding it is and how it makes everyone in that childs life become a better person. I know that.

So, whatever happens, I'm really happy for you and your family Donna, I really, really am.
