Wow! My poor aching shoulder has never been so happy to see a pushchair ever ever ever!! I've had to pick up and carry DS2 a couple times recently for a fair distance, and hopefully that won't happen again now that we have this!

It's going on its maiden run this afternoon on the school run.

It went great!! I'm so pleased!! Obviously we don't want DS2 to become dependent on it, so we brought a small snack with us, and told him he needed to walk while he had his snack (biscuit). Then he got into the pushchair at that point for the rest of the walk. Ah... bliss!! No strops with a child on the floor, no sitting down refusing to walk or respond. No carrying anyone either limp or kicking and screaming. Wooohoooo!

We've decided we're going to set points along the way to have him walk to, so that we can say "okay, today I want to see you walk until we are at the red post box" and move the goalposts when he can do it consistently. I know there'll be days where it just won't happen, but I want to keep pushing him to walk as much as possible, so he doesn't become completely reliant on the pushchair.

It was so nice not having a massive struggle all the way home though! (goodness, I'm easily pleased, eh? )

Yeah! But little things count, you know. Really glad it went well. I think the 'walk to the post box, today' idea is a good one. It'll keep him used to the routine of walking, and give you the opportunity to extend it, but the buggy is there for the rest of the walk and for emergencies. Lovely. I've a couple of friends who had Majors. They are big enough to hopefully stop the cats bum mouth lot, as it's pretty obvious they aren't your average buggy.

LOL - cats bum mouth - already had that one today. DH burst out laughing and made a loud comment about "who gives a rats arse what other people think?!" Not subtle, is my DH.

I've had one for about 6 weeks and it has changed our lives!!! Ds almost 4 has asd and learning difficulties and often refuses to walk - my back was starting to break from picking him up!!! One flashpoint was always picking up his sister from school - lots of people bikes etc he used to run around, tantrum and scream - I often had to carry him screaming out of the yard, you can imagine the looks I got!!! Now we use the Mac for pick up and it's a piece of cake - still get the cats bum from a few though. We've even managed a trip to Bristol Zoo and a holiday in Bultins since the Mac has arrived.

cwtch4967 - we've talked about a trip to Bristol Zoo again as well - I'm actually looking forward to things like that now, as the walking around isn't such a daunting prospect! Glad yours is working out too!

Hi how long does it take to get one my OT was suppossed to send the form off three weeks ago but when I phoned her yesterday she is only just sending it
So fed up off people giving me odd looks with dd being in small buggy when we walk to school .

Guessing it's different all over. OT sent forms off 31st may, had a letter a week later saying it was ordered and would be delivered in due course. OT reckons 2-3 wks. I'm in belfast

They no longer issue them in my area but we could have had a wheelchair!!! A wonderful mum on here offered me hers as she no longer used it - it had been bought for her by a charity and she gave it to me for nothing, it was like new!

Tiggles Bristol Zoo is good for little ones, ds loves fish and if he hadn't been in the buggy we would never have got him out of the aquarium!
