ASD friendly activities between Lincolshire and Legoland, Windsor?

Hi we are going to the Thomas Centre on hols this year which is in Lincolnshire - we're from NI so don't know this part of the world very well. We are then going to spend a couple of days at Legoland. We are going to spend another couple of days somewhere in between with our 3 DC - DS1 and 2 aged 7 with ASD/ADHD and NT DD aged 9.

Last year we got very helpful suggestions from here and went to the Monkey Forest nr Stoke (which they loved) and the National Forest discovery Centre.

Any suggestions very welcome!

We live in the Midlands, which I guess is in the middle of your plans ish?

My ds1 is 9 and has AS and his favourites locally are:

Warwick Castle. We don't go there often, as its not cheap, but you can use Tesco Vouchers and its owned by Merlin if you have one of their passes.

Birmingham Sealife Centre

We are also planning to go to the Space Centre in Leicester in the summer holidays. A friend of mine took a cohort of children with a variety of SNs including ASD and ADHD there last year and it was a big hit.

We went to Coventry Transport Museum last weekend and ds1 enjoyed that. Its a really good place to kill 2/3 hours, as its completely free.

The only other place I can think of of the top of my head is Conkers. Both my boys love it there. There is an interactive eco/environmental museum, a nice big outdoor play park and acres of land to explore, including a tree-top walk/bridge. We thought it was getting a bit old and tired last time we went, but the boys (ds2 is nt and 7 years old) absolutely loved it and to be fair it was a while ago, so they could have tidied it up since then.

Oh and of course there's the West Midlands Safari Park near Kidderminster, which has the advantage of pleasing both those members of the family that love cuddly animals and those that like theme parks.

The Family Days out With Kids website is good for finding out what there is in different areas.

Try the Thames Valley Adventure playground which is not that far from Windsor. It is a fantastic place!!!!

It is based on a 2.5 acre site adjacent to the A4 in Taplow, near Maidenhead, the Playground is open to children and adults with all types of special need, however, mild or profound, their siblings and parents/carers.

Open Tuesday to Saturday all year round, Fridays are reserved for adults with special needs.

Cliveden - not too far from Windsor. There are woods which lead to the River Thames and a maze and playground . It is a National Trust Property so if you google you would get more info. Paultons Park which is Southampton way so maybe a bit more further than you were hoping to travel. It is Peppa Pig themed but there is more to do as well (am hoping to take DD soon).

Also, meant to say that it sounds like your DS's might like trains! If so Beckonscott Model Village is so close to Winsdsor. It is not a massive place you could do it in an hour but if you DS's do like trains it is all based on minature trains with a minature train ride.
