Had call today to say that ds is being excluded for behaviour and failing to follow instructions. He has suspected AS/ASD and has sm for BESD. Lsa does not work today so very litle help was given. A supply teacher was also in class and it is well documented that he doesn't like change (she told him off for rocking on chair which school are aware is sensory-seeking behaviour and helps to calm him down. I was due to travel to another part of the country for job interview (which school knew about) so have had to cancel that at considerable expense. I am furious with them. Dh and I had a bet on that once Sats were finished HT would try to exclude. She already mentioned that she didn't know how they would get through the next few weeks! I feel they have done very little that was specified on the sm and just don't want him there. Have a meeting later and am furious - any tips please?

Thanks for your views everyone. I am concerned that after being told it was an external exclusion school have back-tracked and made it internal exclusion for less than a day. I think they know that they have made errors but we are still not happy with it being on his file. Also the wording on letter states that there was unprovoked abusive and threatening behaviour towards another child. Ds has a history of problems with this child saying nasty remarks and winding him up and staff were aware and watching out for this. Ds walked past the boy who made the same remark he always does so as ds was already highly agitated from earlier events he did say a few choice words to him. These were not as bad as what the boy had said to him previously which had been reported to school and caused ds considerable distress. However, because staff didn't hear the remark this time they called it unprovoked and said they can only act on what they heard! They have not taken statements from ds so I do not feel this has been investigated properly and was a knee-jerk reaction to keep him out of school. Am now complaining as am convinced that all the distress could have been avoided. HT says we will just have to agree to differ!
