Hi everyone, hope anyone has had this before, i applied to the family fund asking them if i could have bunkbeds, had an advisor come out the other day and asked lots of qestions, he said that he would recommend that ds have a laptop and could not see a problem with this, i asked him if it were likely i would get the bunkbeds and he said yes you will get them thought great, then today checked the progres of my application and it had changed fron advisor will phone to arrange a meeting to a letter had been sent out requesting supporting information dont understand why, the advisor was not interested in looking at any of the reports i had ready for him. anyone else has this, i have emailed family fund to tell them i have not received letter for request of information, thanks this is my first time with family fund

Have you provided proof of income?

I had to do that the first time I applied.

They really are fab. They can't give you everything you ask for, of course, but they try to help everyone with something and it's a wonderful thing.

God knows then.

Maybe the advisor should have looked at supporting documents?

Have you had any reply to your email yet? Maybe you should give them a call?

pramsgalore4 · 19/05/2011 12:34

no reply yet, was really excited for kids as they share a bed at the moment, i can send them reports etc but a bit cross he was not interested in looking at them when he had the chance as this will mean it will take longer

OP posts:
Bumfuzzle · 19/05/2011 12:38

It might not even be that. It could be something else entirely.

Try not to be cross. (easier said than done when you feel let down, I know) Just focus on the positive - they are there and they are helping and your children are going to get a bed each.

pramsgalore4 · 19/05/2011 12:42

oh i hope so, bless them they sleep top to toe although when we go to bed they are always side by side so they dont get much room and they must be hot as they never have their covers on. The advisor said that i would get the beds and this is why i dont understand this

oh good.

see. told you they were fab Grin

They have been so very helpful to me in the past. When things have been really bad and something has gone wrong, they've been a godsend.

The first time I applied, it was for bunkbeds. Since then, they've kindly helped at different times with a secure fence, a holiday, washing machine, stuff like that.

pramsgalore4 · 19/05/2011 17:16

my ds and dd are excited about getting bunkbeds and having a bed each, ds is over the moon he will be getting a laptop, he is obsessed with computers and gadgets, i am so greatful to them it will make such a differance for them

How long does it take to process an initial application?

pramsgalore4 · 20/05/2011 14:12

mine took nearly 2 months from sending off form

i have the forms for the family fund and im considering applying for the driving lessons, but im a bit confused in which letters i need to send with my form, can they be copys or do they have to be origonals

pramsgalore4 · 20/05/2011 18:04

only send copys, i sent in tax credits award notice and dla award notice and a report that i had from his teacher but they only asked for the first two, it explains it in their website

hi prams, have you had your award letter stating you will get the bed AND the laptop? dont mean to put a dampner on your excitement but wait till you get the letter incase you dont get both items. fingers crossed you do though Smile

pramsgalore4 · 20/05/2011 21:00

phoned them and asked and they told me over the phone what i had got

oh thats good prams! really pleased for you. I was worried the children would get excited about the laptop and then perhaps not get it Smile my son got a laptop last year, its got a Net Intelligence security thing on it which makes accessing a lot of sites a bit of a pain, my son is obbsessed with war but it wouldnt let him access it. You can muck about with the filters on it but its a bit tedious! My son was sooooo excited when it got delivered, be lovely for you to see yours so happy. xx

pramsgalore4 · 20/05/2011 21:47

i did not dare say a word to him until i knew for sure, he is so excited,

Thats great that your getting both prams, I made my first application a few months back it only took them 2 weeks to reply (everyone said it takes months!) and we got vouchers towards a holiday. My boys havent been on holiday for 3 years they are really looking foward to it so are me & DH :-)
