and in light of us not having had a good year this year we decided to throw a party to celebrate 5 years together.

As JW,s we dont celebrate Xmas or birthdays but we always have a celebration of our wedding anniversary, we have bought DS a playstation cos he has been really good with everything thats been going on with dd and hasnt moaned about her having to have a lot of our attention, and we have treated the kids to an in-car entertainment system with dvd player and 2 screens, tonight my close family and freinds are coming round for a few hours and i am really looking forward to it.

Just thought id tell you all about it because im soooo excited-im like a kid!!!

I bet the kids loved the train cake, looks yummy, I'm afraid I always cheat and head down morrisons.

I bet you can't wait for you little pup, is a lhasa a small white fluffy thing, if so, I think they look very much like the dog I've got, it's a little maltese but with incredibly bad breath.

tassis · 12/11/2005 12:30

Happy Anniversary!!

(Really intrigued as to why JWs don't celebrate birthdays? I'd love you to tell me!)

jenk1 · 12/11/2005 12:59

yes, the puppy is a little white fluffy thing! its like a little white ball, its really cute

As regards to birthdays,

Originally birthdays were an ancient custom which has origins associated with magic and spirit practises.

Up to the fourth centuty ALL christianity rejected celebrating birthdays because of this as they viewed celebrating birthdays as part of an idolatrous worship.

As Jehovahs Witnesses base their beliefs on following what the bible says-this is unacceptable to us, although it might seem harmless- a birthday party,to us because the bible tells us to abstain from idolatrous worship it is not something that we do.

We do celebrate anniversaries however because it is a family celebration for everyone to be involved in.

HTH
