FINALLY!!!!! the pead. said that dd1 could be HF AS tho, so she is going to speak to the SALT and see if they feel dd1 has a communitation and socail disorder, if so, a doctor will go into school and observe her. She is referring dd1 to the ADHD clinic for assessment though she feels that they might say that she is too young to be dxd. We are getting somewhere. Everything I saw telling the pead. indicates ADHD, according to the pead.

Good luck SM! The thing with AS/Adhd is that they have lots of crossovers so can be hard to tell apart until as you say dd gets a bit older.

that's great. your last post about her bursting into tears and saying the teacher didnt like her touched my heart.

it is the burden of all adhd children to be the one that other people dont like.

Hope the adhd clinic will be able to help her.

I am glad that finally someone is listening, it was a doctor we hadn't seen before, though we have been under her team for about a year, so she made me go through everything, from behaviour, speech, education, eating, sleep, her diet etc and then she mentioned her CP last normally the CP is the one thing they mention straight away, but she went straight for her behaviour and sleeping. She was shocked that she can only count to 10, only knows 3 letters of the ABC, can spell the first part of her name etc, and she said that the behaviour is seriously inpacting her education. She was saying ADHD for most of the session, until I mentioned that her teacher and SALT felt that her eye contact was poor and her attention skills are poor, then she said maybe HF AS, as her general social skills are fine.

sparklymieow, so pleased to hear you are being listened to. I felt so sad for you and dd when you were saying about her teacher's attitude towards her. Sounds as if you have got someone who can sensibly put the CP to one side and see the problems you are describing.

I'm so glad that you're finally being listened to. I missed the thread about dd's teacher but it sounds heartbreaking. Fingers crossed for you that you get some answers asap.

I went to see the head today and said that I am getting sick of being collared by the teacher, and being asked to 'talk to dd1 about her behaviour' because I know and the Head knows that dd1 can't process that information, and she will do it again and again because of her behaviour difficulties. The teacher even had the cheek to ask if I needed parenting courses!!! I have been on a SN parenting course, but I have 3 kids and she had DS in her class 2 years ago and she knows that DS is a lovely little boy, so if it was my parenting, surely he would be terrible too.

There was also a snotty note in dd1's contact book about me having a word with dd1 about 'listening and doing as she is told!!'

Grrrrr! Poor dd if she's sensing the teacher's negative attitude towards her.

Miaou · 10/11/2005 22:19

What was the attitude of the head, sparkly? Will you get some support there?

sparklymieow · 10/11/2005 22:45

the head has been fab, he fully supports me, he wants me to fight to get a statement for DD1 and is willing to back me all the way.

Well that's great sparkly - it will really help having someone in the school on side

Davros · 12/11/2005 20:08

Did you tell the Head what the cheeky moo said about parenting classes? I can't believe it
