Well that 's it we have actually done it.
The new school rang yesterday to offer us a place for her, which I accepted.

We took Dd3 today to look around and meet the SENCO and the new teacher and she starts after the holidays.

She was brilliant, she almost seemed relieved to be moving. She took a list of questions that she had written herself and which the SENCO answered really well.

The new SENCO is brilliant, she talked loads to Dd3 and took her off for a wander while we had a quick chat with the teacher.

She even offered to have lunch with Dd3 on her first day [she finds dinner halls really difficult].

The first week back is a science week so they don't even need to wear uniform.

I am sooo excited.Grin.

All I have to do now is tell the old school. They are getting a letter, I decided I didn't need th stress of taling to the horrid HT, I am glad to see the back of her.

Thanks to all you folks who kicked my arse a couple of weeks ago when I was errring about what to do.Smile.

A month off now to regroup and buy new uniformGrin.

Well done, Ineedalife. You knew really, you just needed 'permission.' Sounds infinitely better than the old school. Expect a few wobbles from DD over the hols, she's might get cold feet. Fab news.

Well done. I really hope this is a nice new start for your dd. She sounds positive about it and thats always a good start. I'm glad that the school are being so proactive as well. As for letting the old school know you can get away with not telling them if you want. You must call the lea though and get all the paperwork in and sorted (in my authority you can do it online). The schools now don't control the transfer it has to go through the lea.

My ds moved schools at half term and he's a different child. I fully understand how hard this decision must have been for you. For us it was clearly 100% the right decision and I really hope it is for you.

Ellen, I am sure you are right about the wobbles, we have talked alot to her today and I think she understands that we want to talk about any worries that she might have.

rebl, we have done all the LA stuff already so I have just written this letter to her old HT

"Dear miss.....
We are writing to inform you that as of the 8th of april 2011 Dd3 will no longer be attending .....primary school She has been offered a place at .... primary school and we have accepted it.

yours etc etc."

What do you think??

I know it is the right decision for Dd3, the new school is a buzzing vibrant place where all the children are valued and inclusion is a really high priority.
