Parents' statement for child's annual review in mainstream school

Our daughter (aged 4) has global delay and attends a mainstream primary with a full-time LSA. We are really really happy with the school and all the fantastic help they provide.

Her first ever annual review is coming up and we have been asked to write a statement 'regarding her progress, areas for development and any concerns' we might have.

Can anyone advise what we should do? We want everything to carry on as it is, but I don't want to say the wrong thing, or NOT say what I should be saying!

Any advice would be really gratefully received.

Thanks.

State all the reasons she NEEDS the support... They are always looking to remove something, let them know it's not possible and although she is making progress she is still a long way off not needing support.

I agree with Electra. It's lovely that your DD is doing well, but what would it be like without the provision being made? No reason not to say you are happy that your DD is making satisfactory progress due to the extra support etc that the school is supplying as per her statement. Perhaps say that you recognise that she will always have difficulties with certain areas but that with the correct level of support etc etc you are confident she will reach her potential. It's worked for us and I doubt that her support will be reduced unless she makes remarkable progress. Good luck

Brilliant, that is really helpful and stupidly I hadn't even THOUGHT they might try to take her LSA away - of course...

Thanks so much, couldn't have done without this advice as my lovely parent partnership woman who advises on this sort of thing is on holiday, and we have of course left it til the very last minute...

Thanks
