Have any of you canny mums out there any ideas on how to privately fundraise for your child's ABA. My savings are going to dry up in about 6 months time and there is no way i can stop providing aba to my child.

I wanted to canvass door to door, but who is going to give money to a mum just for "her" child? Well, i would, but many wont, i am sure.
any ideas most welcome!

Are you already putting DLA, Carer's allowance and child benefit towards it? Doing some of the sessions yourself, find out if any other family members or friends would do the same. Try to get Direct Payments from Soc Svs and use that. I don't know about fundraising. I think a lot of people have done it, I would ask PEACh or ask on ABA-UK. I think there might be a file with fundraising ideas on ABA-UK.

I have applied for DLA but it hasnt come through yet. Every penny i have is going towards his therapy. I know everyone is basically in the same position who does a home therapy program but i really have to find some outside funding if its going to continue. I might hold a pub night or something and ask a charity to come on board with me to lend credibility.

My sons ABA costs about 120 per week just for the consultants (three hours or more a week) then as you know you have to find therapists to help out. I am hoping to get a volunteer but dont know if this will work.

Will try ABA UK thanks

Direct Payments is one of the options available if Social Services assess you as needing support/respite. The only thing is that you are less likely to be assessed as needing support or respite the younger your child is so that may not help at all. I'd still ask PEACh for info on fundraising, but not for THEM obviously, for your prog.
