hi anna, there's a testing thread running here if you want to come over for a chat, there's some links about tests on there. It sounds like they are checking for or wanting to rule out fragile x, do they think your ds has asd? I believe they often want to rule out fragile x before giving an asd dx.

my son had these as part of his assesment when he was diagnoed as ASD,Fragile X Syndrome is the most common known cause of inherited learning disabilities. It can cause a wide range of difficulties with learning, as well as social, language, attentional, emotional, and behavioral problems, and they will want to rule this out to know for sure as symptoms are simular

My DS had these done when we first started looking into his speech problems at 2yrs. He had a development test done (Ruth Griffiths) which showed delay in most areas and the blood test were suggested to rule out possible physical causes. All his blood tests were normal and a year on we are now waiting for an ADOS test to confirm ASD.

Fragile X syndrome is a genetic disorder which can cause learning difficulties.
