Would a NT 5.5 year old need a potty because they have a downstairs bathroom?

My OT report says that his issues with wetting at night/early morning which mean that we have had to put a potty in his room due to so many accidents is just because we have a downstairs bathroom.

Most of the houses round here have a downstairs bathroom and I don't know any other children that have a potty at 5.5. Am I wrong??

We believe he has dyspraxia/SPD BTW.

Our DN (also 5.5) and NT has a potty in her room because she has wetting issues (everynight at least couple of times from what I hear). DB's house has toilet downstairs and he is a GP and does not seem to have any problem with that. Some nights she makes it to the potty, but most nights she doesnot.
