Hi - because of her heart problems my dd (10 months old) is having her swine flu jab today.
She was OK with her other injections, but I've heard that this one is a bit of a horror. Has anyone's dc had this & if so would you recommend giving her Calpol before we go in?

Thanks!

Hi, my ds got last year and i gave him calpol before going. Also got it myself due to being his carer and it does leave you feeling a bit sickly and arm is quite sore to move for a few days. I would give dd calpol every 4 hours for today at least. Good luck, hope shes ok.

Thanks! I had it last year when I was pregnant & remember it hurting. I'll calpol her up now. The poor thing is so happy at the moment, i feels so guilty that she has no idea what is about to happen to her!

Hope she gets on OK, but don't forget that at 10 months they forget very quickly! It's much worse giving your three year old an injection and having them terrified of going to the doctor's for months afterwards!!

Thanks Brioche - she had it this afternoon & didn't seem at all phased by it, she even managed a smile & wave at the nurse as we left! I was obviously worrying over nothing (or the Calpol is really effective!) Wink
