Summer camps for ADHD kids?

After a very fraught & exhausting 6 weeks with my ADHD son (almost 14) I was left wondering if anyone knows of any American-style summer camps with activities that would take these children? He went to PGL when he was a lot younger & really loved it, but now he'd be in the 13- 16 top age group if he went again & TBH he doesn't ACT like a normal 13 year old & requires a lot more supervision. I haven't asked them yet but I'm sure there would be problems. (When he went before he was in the younger age group that automatically gets a lot of supervision, so it didn't notice that he wasn't normal).

Surely someone somewhere must offer this sort of thing? (or do we have to send him to the States?)

They do summer camps for kids with severe eczema so you would have thought there would be something wouldn't you.

Thought I'd found something on another website, then realised it was in Utah & cost $11,550 (for 30 days) !! Don't think the budget will quite run to that...

Maybe try this organisation, I posted about their camp a while ago but don't know about ADHD and/or summer camp.

miffypoppy - am looking for a similar camp for my DS aged 15. The Americans are much better at doing this type of thing than we are and I think we will end up sending him over there for 2 weeks [his godparents are in Boston which helps]. He is moving school next year and is very immature for his age so a camp which builds his confidence would be great. My issue will be persuading him to go ...has never been known to do anything new on his own!
Let me know how you get on and also I'll feedback if I find somewhere

I also am looking for a summer camp and cant find anything and find it quite sad that nobody has opened a camp for SN children in this country I have applied at normal summer camps to see if they would consider him a place and are getting back to me.

Hi, you will maybe need to call and check but I found that Peak Horizon have 1:8 staff to child ratio at their camps, even for teens which seems great and will certainly ease my concerns about sendings two teenagers abroad for a month!!
