Star's taking a break!

Just for a bit. It's all gone a bit mad.

I don't mind sibling squabling where we are all one family with an underlying cause but I'm not into family breakdowns so I'm taking a holiday.

This isn't the reason, just the trigger. I think it is a good time to let the new people have a voice without having to adhere to the unwritten rules that us oldies have created. I'm aware that I spend far to much time here and need to put more effort into my family now that I've got some kind of calm for ds for the moment.

Don't anyone change your names though otherwise I'll feel all lonely when I come back Wink!

That's a shame, but hope you enjoy your break Smile Will miss your knowledge and input!

loulou77 · 24/01/2011 20:28

Just to say, I am very grateful for some good advice you gave me about statutory assessmnent. I have lurked for a long time and have used many of your tips to others as well...your help has been very much appreciated chez loulou. Couldn't change my name if I wanted to, am not original enough to bother. Enjoy your break

loulou77 · 24/01/2011 20:28

perhaps now I could get help with spelling....assessment

Oh Star please don't go!

I have no idea wtf has been going on on MN recently (haven't been here for a week or two) - why are so many long-standing people leaving, and on the SN section?? (Can anyone fill me in? Is it to do with Riven and the media hoo-ha last week?)

On a very very personal level, Star you cannot go - I only logged on tonight specifically to ask for your advice (statement/ABA)!! Selfish I know.... Blush

Damn it, why do so many good people leave?

Anyway, whatever your reasons, I hope a break from MN will be good for you if you choose it. Wishing you (and ds) all the best. You have been a rock on this board.

Goblinchild · 24/01/2011 21:10

Well, I've just posted on another leaving thread, wonder how many more there will be?
Enjoy your sabbatical, but please come back. Sad

intothewest · 24/01/2011 22:13

Oh Star - I dont know whats been happening but just wanted to say TTFN which dates me and thanks for your advice to me and many others!! By the way I hope you got what ds needed - I have been too much to have followed. Take care!

thederkinsdame · 25/01/2011 20:32

Star Sad will miss you. You've given me so much fantastic advice and I hope you come back!

waitingforgodot · 25/01/2011 20:38

Star, take a break but don't be a stranger.
Your advice to raw, confused parents with a new DX is invaluable.
Think of it as a public service you provide! Take a holiday but please dont quit! I confess the whole hoo ha has left me a bit scared but I am dipping my toe in the water tonight and saw your thread so have to respond.

JoMaman · 25/01/2011 22:07

star, I just wanted to add my thanks as well - a year ago the penny was just dropping that ds1 had ASD, and today another SN mum in RL accused me of being 'ahead of the curve' (woohoo! its not a competition I know...) anyway, you were one of the many on here who have helped me learn so much...hope you have a good break and come back soon as I still have a lot more to learn :)

Have always appreciated your posts, hope you enjoy your 'break' and come back refreshed and raring to go!!!

Hi, - I'm not here, just trying to find something.

  • but wanted to remind you lot that you ARE bloody great and capable.

You know how I learned what I did? By trying to give advice and looking things up that I have come across on my journey. By being unafraid to try to help people on quiet threads, to give an opinion and not be afraid to have it challenged.

The more challenge I had, the more I learned actually.

You can all do that, and you all DO that. I expect that there are quite a few with plenty to offer that don't because of the strength of voice of some of the old people.

Hopefully they'll/you'll come out of your shell now!?

I'd like to reiterate that I haven't gone because of any newbies. I like newbies, - generally. It's more to do with some things about the way MN has developed just recently, their stance and how it relates to the SN board.
