Has anyones Dc had one? What is it exactly? im under the impression its xrays?
we had a letter from genetist saying blood tests were negative and this would be the next step.
I know it shows how the skeleton is growing in relation to my DS's actual age. but what exactly could this pick up Dx wise?

I tried to search it on the web and it says loads about child abuse following an injury (which Ds doesnt have) and not much else relevant to Ds's problems.

Hi there

My little one had the survey at about 4 months. They thought he had a genetic condition but weren't sure what.

The survey is basically lots of X-rays to see if there are any abnormalities in the skeleton. DS didn't like it much as he had to be rolled over and moved a bit so they could X-ray all the bones, but he didn't need sedation or anything nasty like that.

In his case the survey showed he had thin, bell shaped ribs. From this they were able to home in on genetic conditions that cause this and look very carefully at the related genes. From this we got a diagnosis, so it was very useful.

Hope that helps!
