I have finally managed to talk the Head/senco into letting me use the staff carpark!!!!! I have a special permit now
I also spoke to the Head about Dd1's behaviour and he agrees with me that she is showing signs of ADHD, hyperactivity, poor attention span, the fact that she apears not to hear but we know her hearing is fine, the loudness of her voice etc. Looks like we might be getting somewhere, he said about getting someone to assess her behaviour. He really wants her to have a Statement but its very hard to get one here.

Great news sm.

I cannot believe with a dx of CP you cannot get a statement. Really bad

sparklymieow · 04/10/2005 15:53

I have applied twice!! Both times they turn it down. As she is getting older, the gap is becoming more noticable. Also because of her attention problems, she is falling behind.

Hows your dd, blossomhowl??

eidsvold · 04/10/2005 22:39

that is good news re: the parking .... it is the little things that go a long way to making life just a little bit easier for a few moments.

LadyFioOfTipton · 04/10/2005 22:42

its disgusting you cant get a statement

your dd's delays are quite significant arent they? (please tell me to piss off if they arent, i amy be getting you mixed up with someone) what are their reasons for saying no? do you think ipsea might nbbe worth a ring?

i got a statement for dd when she was just turned three and her delay werent really profound then.

spooklymieow · 04/10/2005 22:47

Yes, she is over half her age in physical skills, about a year behind in speech, can't read, name colours, count to 10, or write. Her attention problems cause a lots of trouble tho, as she can only contracte for about 10 minutes

Blossomhowl · 04/10/2005 23:10

SM - my dd doesn't have any learning difficulties, her problems are mainly in the social side/language area. We got a statement with a language delay dx so so shocked you haven't. I have quite a few friends who have children with varying degrees of CP but they all have statements. Just shocked tbh. Don't make sense!

spooklymieow · 04/10/2005 23:21

I know, the head said to me today that in Beds, 5% of children have statements, here in Herts only 1% have statements. Its so hard to get one here.
