Anyone else confused about whether their dc needs the swine flu jab?

Hi - I've just been told my HV that she thought my dd was in the high risk group for swine flu (because of her age & her heart condition - VSD & ASD), but called the doctor to be told if I hadn't already been contacted then we weren't. i've looked at NHS Direct and it doesn't seem to suggest that she is, because her condition is not chronic.

Has anyone got any idea?

Thanks!!

Had many discussions with my DH as to whether my DS should have this or not. He gets hospitalised with asthma - has not been called for a vaccination, but i thought that was a high risk group? Before he had the hospital admissions, i had discussed with the gp as to whether to vaccinate or not. He had a reaction to the pre-school booster vaccination and developed HSP. HSP can lead to permanent kidney damage.
GP said it was totally my decision and could not advise 1 way or the other.
I would ask the GP why having a heart condition isn't a high risk for flu for your DD.

brandy- some supplies of last years swine flu jab are now being used (as the combined jab is running low), it might be worth asking your GP if your DS could have it?

I wish dd2 could have the jab but she has no health issues, just ASD. When she gets poorly we often end up in hospital with her as she refusses to drink (dehydration) and suffers with very high temp.
