poating here as jumpy about posting in education. Go to the meeting and focus on how they are meeting her needs. Ds's psych insists that you don't need a dx to get support. Try to arrange a meeting yourself between CAMHS and the SENCO. How absolutely shit. Have you got parent partnership on board yet? Can CAMHS refer you to anybody?

TheYuleLogLady · 09/12/2010 19:31

CAMHS gave up on her. nothing since they referred her to PDDAG.

think i only finally got them to listen when i pointed out (again) that she is waiting for ax.

what's PDDAG?

TheYuleLogLady · 09/12/2010 19:33

pervasive developmental development assessment group. been waiting 10 months. will be at least another 6 months.

God it's so frustrating isn't it. Have CAMHS discharged her then?

TheYuleLogLady · 09/12/2010 19:45

no - just on hold until assessment.

can you ask them for a crisis appointment as things have deteriorated? Might be worth a try.

TheYuleLogLady · 09/12/2010 19:50

but they haven't really. not much different from a year ago. just same old crap. but i got tired of phoning school and being ignore so i got a bit more forceful and someone listened.

although maybe you need to focus on the school. One of the reasons that we're in our situation is because no-one knew anything about ds at secondary.

cornycravescava · 09/12/2010 19:53

If I could go back in time... I would be in school's face making sure that someone was looking out for ds. He got loads of silly detentions and the teachers didn't have a clue about his difficulties.

Yule.. You need everything in writing.. So if you have had a phone call from school you ask them to put it in writing to you.. Clarify your understanding of calls / speaking to teacher in writing... Ask for a coppy of her full and complete educational and SEN files and records.

Ask school in writing to record all incidents regarding your daughter.
And start making a complete file up.

Get a rereferal to camhs...

And also ask the school to put in writing what provision they have already put in and how this is measured.

Then apply for SA as your dds needs are not being met... Oh also you want a copy of .. Sen code of practice.. It's free ( have a google and you'll get the phone number to call).

You can also speak to ipsea or ace.

ask for an appointment with the head teacher and senco.. In writing!.. Ask for that meeting to be minuted or take patent partnership with you.. If you are not happy that your concerns have been taken seriously.. You then write to the clerk of the governors..you will also have an SEN govenor.

You can call the lea and ask for the sen inclusion officer for either primary or secondary and get a named person at the lea that you can go to when needed.. If you look on your counties website you should be able to find a name for the head of this department..it's always good to have a name!

I'll leave you with that at the moment as it's quite a list to work through.. But if you want to start kicking butt you need names and a paper trail!

Hth

i'll be needing a file then. will start with DDs schol records and the SEN code.

spoke to SENCo on tuesday who didn't think it was a special needs problem Confused Hmm

have a feeling i may be beginning a long battle.
