Ignorance is still rife :(

OK, I posted on the Friday night thread about my weekend, so won't repeat it all here. Basically, after the gig, we were trying to get a taxi from near the MEN arena/Victoria station.

It took us AN HOUR of standing in minus temperatures. People could see me pushing H's wheelchair, could see we'd need a black cab with the ramp at the side, and either the drivers would ignore us and pick up someone who didn't need the ramp, or people would run in front of us and jump in the taxis :(

We booked a minicab, it never arrived, and eventually, a lovely taxi driver picked us up, and said he'd seen the drivers blanking us and seen other people jumping ahead of us (although to be fair there was no real queue). I just can't believe that people would be so ignorant and rude as to do that.

A few people asked if we needed a cab, then when one arrived, THEY'D jump in it! And when we did get picked up, our driver got a load of abuse for doing so! We didn't hear it though. Apparently some woman thought he shouldn't have picked us up, but he told us if he hadn't we may not have got a cab for hours, because the drivers would keep ignoring us :( Felt so bad he'd had to suffer that because of us :(

Only real low point of the weekend if I'm honest but oooh so irritating!

I think it upset me more, because that's the first real transport problem we've had. We knew we'd have a wait on our hands, there were 9,000 people at the gig, but when the driver said that he saw drivers actively ignoring us, that was horrible. Although maybe it's normal and it's always a scrum for taxis. We come from a city where it's all minicabs mainly, no busy taxi ranks at all. We know for next time though, I suppose. Not sure how we can get round it but at least we know!

Aha, that's not a bad idea actually! People seemed nice enough, I think they were like us and wanted to get to bed! Funny how one never thinks of these ideas at the time!

That is terrible, thank god for that last taxi driver. Do you have a Taxicard? It is fantastic. You have to live in a London borough I think.

No, we live in Staffordshire and were at a gig at the MEN arena in Manchester. Honestly, I was so cold and angry by the end I wanted to hug that taxi driver! Definitely sending good karma his way!
