this snow stuff is a bit hard when you have dc's who insist on routine

isn't it.
dd was not happy this morning, we have a dusting so she assumed no school.
but has gone of on the bus(thank god for malcolm the bus driver who was on today and made her lol by being silly in the snow)
now dd isn't too bad as she has cp so gets over it, but I did wonder how others were managing with all the not knowing

dd1 is having a hard time of it.

she wants to go to school, but is feeling poorly (proper nasty cough, poor thing), so she wants to stay home, but that's not right cos it's Tuesday so she should be at school.... all goes round in a circle

now we have the added pressure that snow is for making snowmen, but she really is too ill to go out, so that too is confusing her.

and school phoned this morning to see a) how she was and b) what our snow was like (her school is in worse lanes than your dd's 2 shoes!) and I foolishly told her it was her teacher on the phone, so now she is thinking about school, and wants to go - back to that vicious circle

DD1 was off school last week with a nasty virus and her school has been closed this week with the snow.

She's all over the place - wants to be at home, but also worrying about going back to school/seeing her friends etc. We've already had tears this morning because she's feeling confused and I can't give her any guarantees about when she will be going back to school. It's hard.

Ds has coped surprisingly well with all the disruption, but I've found that the confusing 'maybes' have been hardest for us all, instances where we're waiting for other people's decisions on what's happening rather than being able to decide for ourselves.

Straightforward cancellations haven't really been a problem, it's the not knowing that's unsettled things here. There's been a lot of stuff left up in the air and I've thought a lot these past few days about how hard it must be for some of our children.

Well, yesterday they said he was a bit unsettled because of the snow, but he's utterly adorable while it's actually snowing. He stands at the window looking up, flapping his arms and screaming with sheer joy, "Ahhhhhh, 'now, 'now!!!!". Of course it can be a little impraticle if there's things to do places to be, but it's very sweet.
