Please can someone help. My DS attends Montessori nursery for two full days mon and friday. He is on school Action plus and has EYCS involment. Nursery have received Inclusion funding though I haven't been told what this has been used for and DS key worker agrees he difinitely needs one to one. I am seeing an Ed Psychologist next week but at home. What is her role? I don't think at the moment my DS is making any progress at Montessori nursery and have not yet had IEP's (he started ther is Sep) Anyone have any ideas on how to speed up one to one and can I insist on DS having someone who has exoerience if ASD

hi
i've been having a battle for it for my ds 3.3. he has seen ed psych 3 times, advisory teacher, salt for ages. all have gone in and made several reports. Also paed wrote to LEA to say DS must be treated as if he has a diagnosis of ADHD AND ASD. Get every professional you can involved. I'm sure you probably have already.
There was a multi agency meeting too.
You will probably need a statement so that would be useful but it takes 6 months to sort.
in the mean time you need to ask for more inclusion funding.
My DS is on reduced hours which i'm not happy about.
In desperation I rang the head of EARLY YEARS SEN PANEL and told her how concerned I was at lack of provision etc and how DS was being discriminated for having SEN. She then emailed me some inclusion funding forms which I took to pre school. Apparently they weren't happy as neither she or any other professional had mentioned them to the school. So you may have to ring around and let them know you're not happy.
A 1:1 post is finally being advertised for ds from monday! it's takn from the end of september to get this far, which i'm livid about.

Please ring around yourself as they do try to fob you off to save money.

Good luck - keep us updated!

hi mompa
you're welcome.
i'm pretty new to it all myself. it disgusts me that our precious children are continuously short changed.
if you don't get the answers you're looking for then tell them you're making an official complaint. i threatened with the MP last Friday and was told Weds that a job would be advertised this Mon for a 1:1 for his full entitlement of 15 hours!
Feel for you with the tiredness, my ds is full of energy and i'm shattered.
how many hours does your ds do? is your paed involved? if not get him also to write to LEA.

HI Mompa,

It was years ago but preschool applied for 1:1 for the 12 hours and then paid the rest themselves. They were very good and proactive. At that time, ds did not have a dx too.

Also, if I remember correctly, I think SOS!SEN deals with quite a few Surrey cases as well and might know you LA quite well. Try giving them a call.
