LEA EP visit - what to expect?

We recently got turned down for assessment for ds1 based on 'lack of evidence', which we are appealing. In the meantime the LEA has offered to send around an EP, next week (!) I had expected everything to take a lot longer and now am freaking out. He is coming here then I am taking him to playgroup with us. Anything I should do/avoid doing? I've heard often 'facts' get distorted in such reports, how do i guard against this? I don't think I can video them at playgroup due to other kids being there. I'm hoping to show him at home vs in group setting, but he is quite unpredictable, am scared this will be the one time he tolerates the singing or goes towards a toy. TIA

i am in the same situation to you. we met the EP about two weeks ago and i was expecting her go find that ds (6 nearly 7) was ok and that he didnt need help. she visited him in school first and then did home visit to discuss with me what she found. she was really nice and had picked up a few things, which i was able to expand on and give her a clearer picture.

i thought she would be on the LEA's "side" and try and find reasons not to give ds a SEN statement. however, she was the total opposite.

i didnt have a clue why ds needed a statement in terms of exactly what i expected from them, ie specific areas of help, one to one etc, i just knew that he needed help because of x, y and z.

as we discussed his needs, the reasons for them etc she was able to pick up on four or five areas where we cld argue he needed help, eg SALT, extra supervision, auditory processing problems etc.

countydurhamlass that sounds really positive, hope everything goes well with the follow up. Maybe I shouldn't prejudge and just see how it goes!
