On days like this I know where ds get some of his sensory stuff

I'm kind of old enough to not be able to hear those buzzy doofers to keep away teens outside shops.. But I can.

Today my ears are driving me totally nuts.. If one more person fires up an electronic thing in this house and I hear one more thing whirring I am going to explode!

I can hear a lap top, an xbox, a desk top ( I'm on my lovely quiet phone), 2 light bulbs, the freezer and the fridge... And I just want to yell shut up!

In fact i have yelled shut up.. And all but ds2 has looked at me with a "what?" look on there faces.

I only get the odd days where it bothers me.. Ds gets lots and I think he and I should run away to a deserted island!

I feel the same quite a lot of the time. I have noticed it more since realising that DH and DS have possible Aspergers and sensory things.

Sometimes I freak out after a few minutes in the supermarket if its really busy, I just decide I can't face going to get the thing I went for, turn around and go home.

It makes it easier to understand your kids issues doesn't it.

Ironically, the noise from DH and DS repeating things drives me nuts, but noise also drives them nuts. just not the sound of their own voices!

I'm not on the spectrum at all .. But my hearing drives me insane sometimes!

Hah! I sympathise. It's (mostly) not sounds for me, though, it's mainly sensations and movement.

Yes I can't stand it when there's too much background noise. Yesterday at bath time, dp had turned the bathroom fan on while the two older boys were still in the bath (wtf). Ds2 was moaning about having to get out and ds3 was crying because he'd woken up. I felt completely overwhelmed until I turned off the fan.

Dp also turns up the radio/TV/music if the kids are being too noisy and he doesn't want to hear them. Sometimes he sings along very loudly! It drives me crazy!

The DVD or set-top box (I can't remember which) hums when it's left on standby. And the new lamps in our living room buzz too. Dp didn't notice. I think he's going deaf.

Lol mummypig.. I often tell dh he needs his hearing checked! But I honestly think it's my issue rather than his.
