Can someone explain the reading tests that are done to me.........?
Wilf has been done on the Edinburgh one before and they are going to do the Suffolk one this time? Whats the difference?

Are these the Suffolk reading tests?

Suffolk one is a comprehension based test, as far as I know. It doesn't really test decoding (ie how well you read a word) but understanding of the actual word.

It starts off fairly easy and gets harder.

All children in Suffolk are tested on this at 6+ and 8+ in schools. I believe, but am not sure, that there are tests for older children too, but I don't teach them, so wouldn't know.

Thanks Spinkle. Wilf is a "Suffolk child" but schooled out of county! He is 14 but at the last test had a reading aged of 9/10 which i was very pleased with!!
