Not at all.
But that's the reality.
People care about things that are happening to them / likely to possibly affect them. Generally.
So those who don't have a disabled family member, well. I doubt the proposed cuts and the effect that'll have is something that even occurs to them.
ime, very many people don't care about the disabled. I mean, they care in a oh you poor thing HOW IS HE DOING THEN? (to you, over his head, because of course disabled = deaf dumb and daft) sort of way, but not in a placard waving, petition signing outraged way.
I don't know why this is. Maybe it's "stick them in an institution" mentality. Perhaps it's S.E.P. (someboy else's problem), I don't know.
But I have learned that if I'm expecting help and support from "out there", I'll be waiting till the cows come home.
We're on our own.
And actually, MN is far better, far more interested, than my entire experience of 'real life'.
That's fucking depressing.
