its ds birthday next week, so we planned to go out saturaday with some of the family to celebrate, i even found a lovely cake he can eat. saturday morning i check his wee and its infected, so off i go and call out of hours care for antibiotics. decide we will still go as we havent been able to celebrate a birthday yet. and then he went and split his supra pubic tube. oh no, off to the hospital we go, and no birthdat party. they cut the end off and do a patch job, and i have to call the hospital for him to go on a list to have it refitted. the temp messures are not working and i have now resorted to strapping two nappys to him so he and the house arent covered in wee ( i hope this works as im out of ideas). ds is heart broken he keeps asking me if hes a baby and he thought he was a boy. it looks like we will be spending anouther birthday in surgery. thought i would post here as i no you understand and may have some wee catching ideas as opossed to my mother who said well thats normal for you, its your life now, why did you book anything

Afraid I've no wee catching ideas. Lots of empathy on the in hospital/theatre for birthdays. Luuk has been in hospital for most of his birthdays and other special occassions
His 1st burthday was spent in hospital doing tests ( supposed to be 1 overnight stay which turned inton11 night stay) and this year he had an op a few days before his birthday and had to be rushed back to theatre on his birthday. :(

Lots of hugs for your little boy xxxx

How about an emgency pack of the tena for men.. Might be easier to fold the sides to make smaller than trying to make a nappy bigger.. Or those pj pants for bigger children.. They might work well... And there wouldn't be a baby picture on the pack.

Sorry your having a rubbish time. :(

Call the venue. Explain. Play the disabled child card. See if they'll offer him VIP status on his actual birthday or the nearest day you're out of hosp. You could just bring the nearest & dearest, perhaps rebooking the big family do for another time.

Sad about your mum saying unhelpful things.
