Help please - questions for primary school DD2 may start at next year?

Hi all,

my DD2 is 3, 4 next June so will be starting school next September. DD1 is already at a lovely primary school - for her (NT). I have some reservations about sending DD2 there (after speaking to 2 other mums of SEN children already there) but it would obviously be a difficult decision not to.

We are meeting with head and SENCO tomorrow, has anyone got any good questions that I should ask them?! Feel like I want to try and get them to say as much as possible, without putting my foot in it or saying the wrong thing myself (which is what usually happens...)

I presume your DD2 is ASD?

If so I'd start by listing some of her specific difficulties and ask the SENCO what strategies the school has to support these.

You'd get an idea of how much / little knowledge they have of the condition.

If you already have some reservations I would be looking at other schools now as well.

Would second what WetAugust has suggested in terms of questions.

Does DD2 have a Statement in place?. If not this is something you may want to consider applying for now from the LEA.
