Telephone Counselling Service

I mentioned this ages ago on MN and just found the piece of paper. I must admit, I can't see how it could work because, when you need counselling, you can harldy have a coherent phone call can you? Although it talks about Brain Injury and Other Neurological Conditions, I assume this includes Learning Disability. Anyway, it might help someone:

The Swansea Institute has been funded by Cerebra to provide this free and qualified telephone counselling service.
Dr Ann Edworthy, a Chartered Psychologist, manages the Counselling Service. She has extensive practical and research experienced in stress counselling and is principal researcher in a UK wide survey of stress among patients and carers of brain injured children.
Please phone Parnet's helpline on 0800 3281159 to access the service. You will be able to talk to a Counsellor using another free-fone number from anywhere in the UK.

Have to agree, feel a bit sceptical about it, but will keep the number anyhow.

I suppose it might work in the same way that Samaritans works - just someone to talk to.
