Do DLA people always call the school?

Have just sent off first application for DLA.
Do they always phone the school/teacher? I am wondering whether to tell them to expect a call or not. I'd rather not tell them unless its necessary really. DS has only been there a few weeks.
There are other people on form that I put down for them to speaak to, such as SN HV, speech therapist and paed.

They can write to the school, i sent a copy of ds's IEP with my application and they didnt feel the need to contact school.

I think it all depends on what you are claiming for. For example if you are claiming that your ds needs to be supervised constantly as he is a danger to himself, you would have to provide evidence of this. If you didnt, then they would probably write to the school to see if he required constant supervision in school iyswim.

Thank you, that makes sense.
I wish I'd thought to send the IEP now!
DS is AS and two of the things I've stated is that he needs a lot of SALT at home and school and that he needs a lot of help interacting with others socially. It states both those quite well on his IEP.
Do you think I could post them a copy now and ask them to add it to the claim form I sent last week or is it too late?

No, mine didn't. DD1 had HRC, and has just been uprated to HRC/HRM. They didn't write to the Special school, but I did send in all her statementing documentation from January, that named the special school as her next placement on the strength of it.
