DD who is 9 months has some kind of blood vessel disorder, but the doctors do not know what it is yet. We have put a claim on for dla, on there advice but i am going back to work tomorrow and really dont want to be apart from her. I have already took a month off unpaid and cannot afford anymore time off work. How long does it take for a claim to be processed if they have no diagnosis?

Ours was processed and backdated amount paid into the account within three weeks. I included copies of all the consultant reports which I'm assuming helped speed things up.

It depends on the evidence you have, mummytopebs.

Our first claim was processed within 8 weeks, and we got High Rate Care for 2 years. At the time, DD1 was 2.11, we knew she had Global development delay, and we knew she had epilepsy. We could only send it reports from her preschool Inclusion co-ordinator, which was evidence of her need for 1:1 and her immaturity. Also, some paed letters, which only dated back 3 months because she was a late diagnosis.

This year we have had to renew, and we have been given HRC/HRM but we now have a diagnosis, a Statement of SEN and a Special school place Sad

DLA is awarded on care needs, not diagnosis.

Am annoyed now cos the woman at cab filled it in with me and i had reports and she said it wouldnt speed it up because they would have to contact the consultants and doctors anyway, so she didnt send them off.

send them off ASAP, saves no end of time, just make sure you put the ref number at the top :)
DD2 has no offical dx but got DLA granted for 5 years because of pead report.

How is your LO?

Ours seems to have been processed based on what we sent and approved but they've also checked with consultants and gp because I have recently received letters saying - further to information recently received your claim has not been amended. So, the consultants must have only just returned their reports. You should be able to drop any reports into your local benefits office, have you got the first letter yet telling you they've received your application? It will have a reference number on it - phone the office tell them you have reports to supplement your claim application they'll give you another reference number to write on the form and either drop it in or post it (we always hand deliver stuff and get a confirmation slip with the date and time they got it)

Havent had a letter to say received yet so will forward the reports to them when i get the reference number.

Lisa123 she is not to great at the minute with the weather being colder. This morning she was completly covered and wrapped up except her face, she was out of the car for 5 mins dropping her sister at the school gates and her nose and eyelids went red and swollen. Her hands and arms were purple and red and swollen even though ahe had 4 layers on.

She has also stopped weeing as much again and keeps laying her head flat on the floor, so i am concerned the blood vessels in her kidneys and brain are constricting.

I am going back to work tomorrow and she is going eo nursery :(

been following your posts for while, Im guessing they have no answers for you yet? How you doing? wHAT HAVE YOU BEEN TOLD?

mummytopebs · 21/10/2010 19:17

No answers as of yet. They are not sure themselves, they think it is something very rare and are now researching into other countries to see if they can find any similar cases.

She has been put on some meds and we go and see them every month, we go again tuesday and i think they might keep her in again and do some more tests. They have been very open with us and kept us informed.

Work went ok today and dd was ok at nursery. I have been into the nursery and showed all the pictures and talked all the staff through it so they are very aware. They rang me at work today as her fingers had swollen but they rubbed them and managed to get them down. We just take each day as it comes really, cos we dont know what it is, we dont know what can happen next :(
