Hello,
Could anyone give me some advice please, my son is 5 years old and has just started in yr1 his teacher has concerns as he can not sit still in class at carpet sessions or assembly so she has asked for someone from SEN to come in and observe him in the class. I dont want my son to be labeled at such a young age but i do also have slight concerns. He can not concentrate for more than 5 mins if playing a game,he is constantly fidgeting and jumping around at home, he becomes easily ditracted, he still has screaming tantrums and becomes obsessed with things like his socks or shoes not fitting right and this can go on for days or weeks. He complains of tummy ache quite often and also suffers from mild eczema. He has a 7 yr old brother and 4 yr old sister and i can see the differance in behaviour.
Im so concerned what do i do i dont just want to take what the school say without doing what i can to help him, i just dont know where to start? Any suggestions please.

Some sympathies. I have a challenging 6yo (but not seemingly ADHD) -- also quite different from his siblings.

If I were in your place, OP, I'd try very hard to be very closely involved without each step of his assessment; try to be in the room when relevant professionals are assessing or discussing him. Don't be afraid to ask questions and insist that they clarify anything and everything. I think it's quite a steep learning curve, you want to be closely involved if possible.

Hi, Yes i was thinking the same thing thank you for that, i had a word with the teacher on friday and told her i want to be notified when this person comes in and then we will discuss it further, im finding it a little stressful at the moment though.
