He has just started on a social skills and communication group.
We had fought for him to get this and were happy to see it in place..
Upon asking ds how it went he announced that he's not sure if it's for him as some of the group ( all his age) seemed to have a lot more issues than he did.
Anyway he gave quite a long account of who said what and recounted who was in the group.. " well there is a blonde boy.. He's quite nice but doesn't use long words, a girl who is like... Not being rude .. a saphere ( spelt the way he says it).. But she is kind.. The lady who asked lots of questions that smells like grandma.."
" I was sitting on a comfy soft chair on my foot ( something he does in place of a wobble cushion).. And a new boy came in and asked me why my leg was missing... I told him my foot was under my bottom... Then everyone laughed and said I should have said it had been bitten off by a lion.. But I told them that wasn't true".
But after me listening and laughing at the leg bit and explaining.. He said " oh they were telling me to make a joke!"... And proceeded to laugh all evening!
So for the boy who thinks he doesn't need this group.. They seem to be really helping! :)
