Panel meeting without letting me know!

Ds has severe speech delay and I have just received a letter today from the learning trust today to say they have received a Notification form from the paediatrician that we saw in August. It informs me that ds's papers will be discussed at the next panel which meets in September! and that the doctor feels he may have special educational needs. Surely at some point someone should have mentioned this to me? I have never heard of Notification before

The paediatrician should have told you. The Notfication is (at least in the area I live) called a Notifcation to Education - it is how the NHS communicates with the LEA. Has your son been assessed by the Ed Psych? I would find it a bit strange that they discuss your DS without having done that tbh. Though the panel may simply look at the paediatrician's report then decide whether they will assess further (or not).

The notification to Education for my DS1 triggered the Ed Psych assessment, after which his preschool got allocated 1:1 funding for him and the Specialist Teacher also became involved.
