Ds has done extremely well as diagnosed severe and had learnt to talk, dress, (if no buttons etc) with giving clothes one by one, to use a fork, pencil, and academics. However school has been terrible...he had sensory overload anyway and hyperacusis but now ds autistic syptoms have returned since he returned to school two weeks ago;(

He is stimming, hand flapping (weel this started when being attacked frequently last term), toe walking started the week ds went back to school BUT ds has never rocked before Shock and is doing it at carpet and tablework time mainly. But has started to do it just before ds goes into playground (standing up), of course ds is redirected but hasn't done none of this since first year of ABA.

I am really worried the stress of school is causing ds to push into an autistic regression? Anyone else had this?

yes, we had DS who did not have any symptoms of autism except speech delay and social communication problems(since starting ABA, he was diagnosed classic) losing all eye contact, making loud noises, playing with doors and light switch, lining things up etc since starting reception last year. He was settling in so well first three months as we had his ABA therapist shadowing him. But it all changed when his new 1:1 started, in the end we had to take him out as he was stimming non-stop. We lost 9 months in the process, he went backwards, now he is in an ABA school and doing very well. I have to say though, DS's Autism is so mild that he looks out of place at his new school and we know that at some point we will have to move him back to mainstream as a special need school is not the right place for him either.

This is what the SALT and sp.teacher who worked with my DS at the language unit last year said to us in July: "you may find he has a slight regression when he start school"
(DS is nearly 5, HF autism.) I expect the regression can be slight or more obvious and in some cases it may not happen.

But DS who has started ms recp. didn't talk at all while at school for the first 10 days, he was back to grunting and hand-dragging,...and at home his vocal stims have increased again (they were down in the summer), he refuses to get dress while he was coming along fine with this with prompting during the summer. He also has been more repetitive with what he wants to do since school has started, it is the wii all the time and he has huge tantrums when we say no more.
