I feel like the shittest crap mum.
dd had an appointment, just an eye test, involves looking a pictures, nothing bad.
so I went and got her from class and took her along, I had it arranged that she wouldn't have to wait long, as sometimes they run over and she kicks of as it is lunch time......
well would she cooperate.........would she fuck.
she just flailed around shouting and kicking off.
nothing I said or did made it work.
in the end she calmed down and did half of it..
so now she has to go back in December and see the consultant.
(I have asked for someone from the respite place to come with me)
I feel like shit, normally she is so good and happy, then this..........

You're not a bad mam! Don't be so hard on yourself.

Could there be a reason behind this? Is she coming down with something maybe or was she not expecting to go today?

2shoes · 24/09/2010 12:05

no I had told her.
she is 15 by the way. should have put that in post, I don't think she likes me appearing and taking her out of class. she is ok if it staff that do it.

Hope it goes better next time.

she can't talk, and once she gets upset/angry there is no reasoning with her

I know how old she is :)

She is a teenager, maybe she is just having a teenager moment :) Hope she is ok once she finishes school today.

glittery · 24/09/2010 12:25

is it those grey cards with the white line drawings on them, train, duck etc?
Shes probably fed up looking at them by now ds was and he's only 6, wish they could get some more age appropriate pics for the older kids.

2shoes · 24/09/2010 12:27

yes it was, she is usually ok doing it, but did lol at them, maybe I should suggest pics of blink 182 instead

Not crap. Seriously.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/09/2010 12:36

"normally she is so good and happy," you see , you clearly are NOT a crap mum!

2shoes · 24/09/2010 12:39

oh I must tell you about the boots....
I got her a pair of boots, the slouchy type, turned out to be a big mistake as her foot kept coming out of them, not good as she was in her chair.
so after the school complaining(nicely) I got her a new pair, bright Red, sort of doc marten like, boots, she loves them so much she cuddled them :o

chocoholic · 24/09/2010 12:47

Crap mums don't buy cool boots! Grin

sc13 · 24/09/2010 12:47

You are most definitely not a crap mum, don't ever ever think that ever again.
Kids have their grumpy days (I know mine does); sometimes we can identify a trigger and do things differently, sometimes that's just the way the day went.
I was thinking of getting myself slouchy boots, but the red doc marten ones sound way cooler!

magso · 24/09/2010 13:10

Don't blame yourself!
I dont think I'd have wanted to look at ducks and trains at 15 either. I can guess how it made you feel though - Ds struggles with me turning up in school - had a massive wobbly infront of the paediatrician - he wanted to play with ( the contents Blush my handbag.
Boots sound great!

auntevil · 24/09/2010 13:30

Chocoholic summed it up - cool mum. Smile

ShadeofViolet · 24/09/2010 13:56

thanks for all the replies, it really helped, it is not often I am reduced to near tears, but this did it to me.
am dreading taking her to the opticians to pick frames tomorrow(I have been in and selected 2 to counteract the tantrum) but will bribe her with clothes/book/ money........
