until 10.30am.

Ds (6 asd) wet himself in school 2 days ago as didnt ask for toilet as too scared and was made to go yesterday as fidgeted all carpet time (scared of boy who attacks him thats another thread).

Teacher said ds cant go until 10.30am with other children....ds is extremely anxipus in school and needs toilet more!

Also ds had bad kidney infections in past....as ds not very good drinker best of times...

What do I do about this...ds told by teacher could not drink 'juice' the other day and now toilet:(

Talk to the teacher as soon as possible. Say (very sweetly) that if it's a problem for the teacher to make an exception, you will happily go to your GP and get a letter because of the kidney infections.

I bet you won't have to go to the GP.

It's usual for teachers to not allow kids to go to the loo during whole class sessions whilst sitting on the carpet. Or indeed get their bottles of drinks. There are kids who make a career of doing this and it can be very disruptive.

However there are kids you allow to go because you know they need to.

Explain he needs it and his past kidney probs and it should end there.

Get your GP to write a letter explaining that he needs to go (tell GP exactly what he needs to put it, i.e. both asd and kidney problems). If the school knows about his problems, and do not make reasonable adjustments for him (i.e. a toilet pass), they risk breaking the law. I find a passing reference to the Disability Discrimination Act concentrates people's minds wonderfully.

thank you all will go to the GP if teacher does not allow ds to toilet (we only allow ds to go once anyhow as we know ds will use it as escape otherwise)....sprinkle I know what you mean but the other dc are allowed to drink in class as and when they please but because ds wont drink water they wont let ds drink his juice and has to go without...which ds does!

Well, there is always fuss about drinks at school. In my day we didn't get to drink and it didn't do me no 'arm!!

The juice thing is tricky because the school likes to have one rule for all in this case. This is appropriate, I suppose and I seem forever to be mopping up sticky and leaking juice bottles (we don't have the 'no juice' rule).

However, I notice you can buy clear juice/squash stuff these day Wink If you could get ds to drink that you might get away with it....

No one needs to know the difference, nudge nudge.
