I am *so* proud of dd1

dd1 is animal phobic.

proximity (apart form in zoos Hmm - think she is reassured by the barriers) to animals reduces ehr to a quivering wreck. it started out with dogs (although no idea why - we used ot have a dog, and dd1 crawled around her happily as a baby. sadly we had to re=home the dog a couple of years ago due to the extreme nature of dd1's phobia)

anyway. at school, dd1 has been undergoing a desensitisation programme, mostly with dogs and horses (both are present at her school)

this started in about week 3 of last term, so she has been on it for maybe 12 weeks or so?

today, at her riding lesson, she got up onto the horse, and rode it for about 20 minutes Grin Grin

she has come so far, and is working so hard, I am really proud of her Grin

Wow, silverfrog. I think your school is the envy of many parents here. It seems that they truly are individualising Smile

silverfrog · 20/09/2010 18:46

thanks, Smile

they don't have much choice but to individualise, tbh - there's only 3 pupils Grin

dd1 was apparently really proud of herself, and grinning form ear to ear Grin

and to top it all off, she has now gone and done her first poo in the toilet Grin Grin

what a day she's having!
