Hi got DLa renewal from October for my dd - do I have to reapply for Carers Allowance or does it just carry on? Thanks

You only qualify for Carer's Allowance because you are caring for someone who gets DLA - so as long as DLA continues the Carer's Allowance will continue.

yes - so i dont have to renew it?

my sisters carers was stopped as DLA was due for renewal last month. They stopped her carers till she had the letter to say she had been awarded dla agina and she has had to reapply for carers!

You will probably get a letter from C Allowance folk, saying they note your DLA claim is up for renewal. You may not have to reapply if there has been no break between your previous DLA claim, and your new one.
You can ring them and ask them to clarify things.
Remember, you can only get CAllowance if you receive Middle/ High Rate DLA-Care Component.

thanks. Rang them and they know of the renewal so everything should carry on as it is.

Hi my sons Dla stopped on the 5th December and due to me not sending the renewal form back on time I didn’t get then next payment. My caterers allowance stopped but the Dla has been reinstated so it was a week late. Does this mean I have to re apply for the careers allowance?

KeepGoingThomas · 13/01/2024 13:55

@Ladylangton75 yes, you will need to reapply for carer’s allowance.

Ladylangton75 · 13/01/2024 14:40

I did anyway but I wasn’t sure. It was only one week late as they dealt with his claim urgently as I suffer with mental health myself. I was only without it for a week. I’m due my next pay on Monday so wasn’t sure if I’d get it or if it will take upto 6 weeks as before it did x

It might be quicker than when you first applied, but if your previous carer’s allowance claim ended it will be a new claim, unfortunately.
