Awful noise- help before I go insane

Ds1 has always screamed when peed off - doesn't bother me. He's often whacked his head hard as well- which bothers me a lot less than it does dh (unless its on glass when I freak). But he has now developed this awful "i'm not 100% happy noise" that is sending my blood pressure through the roof. I can only describe it as a motorcycle moving up through the gears- so it goes " uuuuuuuur, pause, urrrrrrrr, pause urrrrrrrr, pause" you get the idea- we call it growling, but its not. He started just using it when he was very cross- now he's using it all the time. Doesn't like the TV show "urrrr", wants a biscuit "urrrrr" wants to go outside "urrrr". annoyed the toilet won't flush 15 times in a row "urrrr"

WTF do I do before I go insane? Very insane. Following on from the previous thread thank goodness we have tolerant neighbours. Oh god he's in the garden doing it now (dh with him).

The obvious answer is to redirect to PECS for requests, but that does nothing for the peed off bits. How do I get him to scream again before I go mad? Please please please?

oh yes- a lot (frayed nerves here), and dh said "will you stop making that awful noise back at him; it's bad enough him making it without having to listen to you." PMSL

Had an official WIN today though- someone comes to our house now to fit ds1's shoes (she is a star- friend's sister manages a clarkes shop)- oh god it gives me such pleasure each time (it had got to the stage where it was taking 2 of us to get ds1 fitted which meant arranging babysitters for the other 2). Anyway he now has new shoes ready for term.

ERm, I think Soupy's earplugs is a good idea for desperate times but then you won't hear ds2 and ds3 when they may need you...

only thing i can offer is that like every other stim it will run it's course, and then you will be onto another one , which may or may not be easier on the ears, only other suggestion is a reward system and i think you will like this one , everytime he does it you get to drink a glass of wine, yes he may carry on making the noise but you won't notice, hic hic, i have used the same reward system as one of my girls is driving me to it, since 4:30 a.m she has been asking how many sleeps until school, i have told her it is 2 sleeps , but no not acceptable she insists that tomorrow is tuesday and she is going to school,
off for another drink.

i should go for a 'ch' break as well shouldn't I, but I am so behind it is embarrassing.....

JJ i need some info on direct payments, me and hubby have been talking about it but not sure if we would get it or even if they would give us many hours

Do you want me to swap over- or email me direct if you want. I think each area is different- here they've really got their act together - although I get way more hours than D - even though R is away so much I think she was very unlucky with her SW. Also when our SW visited ds1 was going through a refusing to allow certain lights on phase and I hadn't bothered to tackle it- and for some reason us sitting in the dark completely horrified her PMSL- so I think she decided I was on edge or something! And then oushed for lots of hours.

I don't think it quite works like that- I think they take the needs of the family as a whole. Certainly they considered ds2 and ds3 as they were concerned that they couldn't go out during the summer because we were stuck in with ds1 iyswim. That was mentioned in the report.

well hubby has been so againest any sort of help that doesn't come from family, and that is 2 overnights a year. lots of the staff from the giirls school do direct payment work and he would be happy if it was someone we already know, i know it takes ages to set up the DP's so was thinking if we could just get something for next summer hols, this holiday has been a nightmare autism x 3 really doesn't work very well and it is hard to do any 1 to 1 stuff which they all really need, what do you reckon my chances are

depends on your area- here you would get something.

DP's have made a huge difference this holiday. I employed someone for 4 weeks to look after ds2 and ds3. (she used to be a nanny for a hollywood star he he- now slumming it with us- and she's a trainee SALT). She came in each day for 4 hours in the afternoon- took ds2 and ds3 to the park etc. That meant I could take ds1 out somewhere- he's been far calmer as a result. Also had 3 sessions with goosey from mnet- who looks after him 1:1 in her home. He loved that- came home armed with photos ach time which he curled up with. This last week I had 3 days without help and it was dreadful- ds1 got really uptight from being in too much. He's back to school on Wednesday- I know I have help for Tuesday- and may have some for tomorrow.

It took us a year to set up- but has been really worth it. Life has been a lot easier this summer- go for it.

JJ - might just be me being a bit pollyanna, and of course I don't ghave to listen to it - but do you think that it is a fist sign of him trying to communicate with you what he wants - using sound????

It may all sound the same to you, but it there the slightest possibility that it means something to him???

ah I'll give it a go. I can see what she's saying. He vocalises- he has "words" (they;re just not the same as everyone else's) - so if he can be made to understand that he has to alter what he is saying and make it the same as everyone else..... THAT'S the bit I've never managed! I'm not proud- if someone else can do it - then great.... Watcht his space
