I've never done a wheelchair, but I have resprayed a pram frame.

I sanded it down to get rid of any paint/rust, covered all the unremoveable bits with newspaper and masking tape and resprayed with metallic spray paint I bought from B&Q. Was a pretty nice job afterwards as well.

If you need to change the colour you could chat to a local car bodyshop. They'll be able to do a really good job and the paint won't flake or chip.

KatyMac · 08/09/2010 20:59

& where does it need to be
(travelling from Norwich on Saturday to London & the Portsmouth)

LollipopViolet · 08/09/2010 21:19

My granddad did my uncle's powerchair. It was yellow to start and he painted it a lovely blue. I think he just used Humbrol or something similar.

RTB, my friend had an action 3 as a loan chair while hers was fixed a few years ago. I thought her current one was heavy until I had to help her get that thing round Alton Towers!

Her local WCS are still refusing her a new chair btw, so learning to drive might have to go on hold til she can get one she can lift on her own :(

And I like purple, I'm dying my hair that colour soon! Your ds might like it when he sees it.

roundthebend4 · 08/09/2010 21:20

Has she tried caudwell lolipop ? .I was going to get them to fund power chair for d. But we been given from another board a older one but it works a treat

Want to save caudwell as feeling ds might need acc stuff

Has H tried looking on eBay ,not sure what her paticular needs are size and posture wise but am happy to keep eye out for her and adult ones seem cone up more regulary

Ds chair was only £200 plus train on Saturday better than the 1600 that normally costs

RTB, she's trying, but says the forms are like telling your life story! She'll get one, I know that much. Just a case of when! I have no idea about size but she doesn't need specialist seating, just something very light! Will nosy on ebay myself actually :)

roundthebend4 · 09/09/2010 14:24
