It is going to be another "let's sit down and talk it all through for the millionth time" type appointment isn't it?

Sad

Not if you ask them what the expected outcome is or tell them what you want it to be...hopefully! Good luck.

If its CAMHS at Accy then they are fab.
They'll maybe a few peeps in the room who will prob ask a load of questions ect.

We have been going a CDC for 18mth but because ds won't interact at all they then referred us to CAHMs, I am getting to the end of my tether tbh...

Although at our last appt at CDC the paed did say in his opinion ds is ASD and ADHD (plus GDD).

CAMHS are much quicker at reaching decisions then the paed is around here.

CAMHS worked hard to find a clinician DD1 would interact with. I can't fault them in our area. I think it's a bit of a postcode lottery.

Oooh thanks everyone, fingers crossed then Smile

Hope it all goes well!

Well we are back, and it was as I thought. 4 mth we have waited for a 1 hour appointment to go through the same things over and over. They will now "decide" if ds needs to be formally assessed erm YES he does! so on another waiting list now for ADOS...

They clock watched the whole time, and didn't end up finishing so she is ringing me at 2pm to finish the form off...

GREAT! not

From deciding to formally assess to the ADOS it was 4 months but they will give you the results 2 weeks or so after that so basically within 5 months from today you will "know" most likely if that helps, rather than waiting indefinitely like you have been.

Thanks Wasuup3000...I am just getting really sick of it all now. I guess that's what's good about here, you get to rant and everyone has sympathy.

< passes pucca cake>

I think what they ( proffesionals in general) forget, because they see it all the time.. Is how all of this hanging about really stresses families out.. Families do not go to CAMHS for the fun of it orifice they are not gravely concerned. I know they are busy .. But they do need to remember the human side too.

For us camhs were fab at the start.. Then dropped us like a hot brick.. Second time round they were much much better.. And we have great continueing support.

I do think this might be down to the way I learnt to put my concerns, history and information across.
I do sometimes feel I'm a bit bossy etc .. But I also try to make their jobs a bit easier.. Which I have been told is appreciated.

Orifice ??? Ooops ... I meant or if.. Stupid phone!

pucca · 08/09/2010 16:40

Haha @ orifice!

I am a bossy boots too TheArsenicCupCake, I gave them a copy of my parental advice today and they were like "Ooooooh! that looks professional" haha but then thanked me as it does have everything in it in great detail and makes their job a little easier.

Thanks for the cake, much needed Wink
